Viewer Tip Solves Two Crimes - Bonney Bowman Reports
Lincoln Police say the man who broke into a landscaping company also stole tropical fish from a pet store.
Investigators arrested Justin Meyer on Friday for the burglary at Nemaha Nursery.
He was caught on surveillance video, stealing gas cans, fuel and other equipment.
Sheriff Terry Wagner says Crime Stopper tips helped put Meyer behind bars.
Through interviews with Meyer, Officer Katie Flood says investigators learned her had given a unique tank and tropical fish as a Christmas gift to his girlfriend.
"The timing of this gift coincided with two burglaries at Tropical Wear House on December 18th and January first. We made contact with the gift recipient an recovered most of the stolen items."
Flood says Meyer stole 56 Clownfish and Rosaline Sharks.
