Lincoln Police are looking for as many as three women who used elaborate means to steal a lot of clothing from Von Maur.
The store at 2900 Pine Lake Road was recently the target of two big thefts. Police say the first was around 3pm on January 6th.
Lincoln Police Officer Shane Winterbauer says, "These two females selected a numerous amount of clothing items, roughly 16 to 18 clothing items. They took that clothing into the dressing room."
Police say the pair eventually left without buying anything. Employees later found a majority of the clothing in the dressing room, but learned they were missing three pairs of pants, two dresses and a shirt. Total loss: $919.
"The two black females were seen getting into a silver Toyota Corolla with Tennessee license plates," said Winterbauer.
Police say the car is a rental from Hertz in Omaha, and they believe the women used a fake name to rent it. That's not the only Omaha connection.
"That same day, the clothing items that were stolen from the Von Maur here in Lincoln were actually returned at a Von Maur in Omaha," said Winterbauer.
The case would get more elaborate just 8 days later. Lincoln Police believe one of the women came back with a different woman and pulled the same stunt.
"Again they selected numerous items of clothing and entered the dressing room. They exited the dressing room a short time later, again, same deal, they ended up leaving the store," said Winterbauer.
Police say the two left with a pair of jeans and two swimsuits worth $537 and again exchanged the clothing for gift cards at an Omaha Von Maur. This time, they were seen getting into a green Ford Windstar van.
"The female that's seen in both cases here in Lincoln is pretty identifiable. She's a black female in her 20's, heavier set and has several facial piercings," said Winterbauer.
Police say her two accomplices are also black females in their twenties with their hair in a ponytail.
If you recognize any of these women, call Crimestoppers at 475-3600.

For everybodys info one of the girls has been identified and reported to the police..the police on the other hand are stupid for not catching her already because shes just gonna keep stealin and gettin away with stuff the longer they take..they need to learn how to do their job and start arresting people..
I used to work at a retail store in Omaha and this kind of thing went on every day. We got very tired of constantly having to take measures to outsmart shoplifters and, at the same time, not treat people like thieves. I am so glad I don't work in retail anymore. I hope they catch these girls and put them in a program where they're forced to work for a living like the rest of us instead of helping themselves to what isn't theirs.
I agree with anon. Don't know if Von Maur employees work on commission or hourly wages, but if store employees stand around and talk, or not help customers, this type of thing will happen again and again.
Wal-Mart does a better job with attending to their dressing rooms :)
I thought one could only take a minumum amount of items in the dressing room, did the employee feel intimidated by these woman - or is it not store policy - if not the policy , they better make it one
Wait...what?? You're blaming the store instead of the criminals? I'm all for prevention, but the blame for the CRIME lies with the CRIMINALS.
To anon: your opinion is ridicolous! It's not okay to steal, plain and simple!
The store and employee are not doing thier job.Number one the manger of the store needs to change its policy.Only one to three items should be taken back to try on and each have their own room to do this.Give a hanger tag with just the amount 1-3 items back. The items should be given back to the lady in charge of it.She needs to be closer to the dressing door.Give more help where needed.I have been in store that to many ladies are standing around tlaking and no one is keeping an eye on the dressing room and then other employees are super good and right there to help out.I don't feel bad that this has happen cause all it takes is some work and paying attendsion.
