The Lincoln Community Foundation announced today that Give To Lincoln Day returns for a second year on Thursday, May 16. The foundation encourages all Lincoln and Lancaster County residents to make a charitable donation to local nonprofits during this 24-hour day of giving. Gifts can be made online at www.GiveToLincoln.com.
The Lincoln Community Foundation and participating sponsors will offer an incentive for gifts made on Give To Lincoln Day. Every nonprofit organization will receive a proportional share of a $200,000 Challenge Match Fund, based upon its percentage of total dollars raised on May 16. This incentive increases every donation made on Give To Lincoln Day, making every gift even more meaningful.
Give To Lincoln Day aims to promote philanthropy in the city. By helping nonprofits raise funds, the daylong event helps them carry out their important work and supplements budgets already stretched to meet current demands. It also allows nonprofits to tell their stories and attract new donors.
“Our first Give To Lincoln Day last year was a huge success,” said Barbara Bartle, President of the Lincoln Community Foundation. “Thanks to the generosity of the Lincoln community, the support of our local media and the active participation from 187 nonprofit organizations, this event raised $1.3 million dollars to benefit our nonprofits that help make Lincoln a great place to live. Lincoln really stepped up and rallied to support the causes they care about.”
All local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that have an office in this community and serve the Lincoln or Lancaster County area are encouraged to register for participation at www.lcf.org/community-initiatives. Nonprofits will receive help to create online giving pages and have access to training and marketing tools to help promote the event.
