Lincoln Police have arrested a man they believe crushed the head of a dog.
According to Captain Jason Stille, about 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, the 53-year-old suspect, Michael Darby told the pet's owner that something had happened to her dog, Bella.
Stille says the victim found Bella in the kitchen bleeding from nose mouth and ear. When the victim began tending to the dog, she felt the dog's head was obviously damaged. Bella died a short time later.
Police say X-rays of the dog reveal a number of skull fractures which officials told Lincoln police indicate the dog did not die of natural causes.
Captain Stille said they were finally able to locate Darby about 1:00 a.m. Thursday and he was lodged for felony animal cruelty.
