Local Businesses Get Ready For Small Business Saturday

Posted: Fri 7:21 PM, Nov 23, 2012

While many shoppers went to the big retail stores today for black Friday discounts, others are waiting one more day for Small Business Saturday.

The day was created in 2010 to counteract Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which features e-commerce.

Small Business Saturday encourages consumers to shop at small, local, independently owned businesses.

" We have a huge following, and so we are excited. We feel like small business is the back bone of every city," said Primitive Touch Antique Warehouse Co-Owner Jeri Curtrer.

" I'm not sure what to expect, but with everyone out shopping, I'm sure it'll make a big difference," said Primitive Touch Antique Warehouse Co-Owner Billie Berta.

Thousands of small businesses around the country are planning special offers, partnering with neighboring businesses, and hosting events to support the small business shopping day
