A longtime central Nebraska reporter who was honored as the nation's oldest worker in 2008 has died at age 104

Mildred Heath died Wednesday in Overton where she lived for most of her life.

Heath co-founded the Overton Observer with her husband in 1938. Later the couple added the Elm Creek Beacon to their business.

Heath continued working as a journalist until June 1, 2009 when the Beacon Observer was sold.

Rev. Cathy Cole got to know Heath when she served the Overton United Methodist Church. Cole says Heath was an amazing woman who was a strong supporter of her church and community.
