The Agriculture Department predicts that Nebraska's drought-stricken corn crop will be the smallest one since 2006 and 14 percent smaller than last year.

Based on conditions on September 1, the USDA predicts a corn crop of 1.32 billion bushels in the state. That's 1 percent smaller than last month's estimate.

Yield is forecast to be the lowest since 2002 at 145 bushels an acre.

The soybean crop is now forecast at 200 million bushels. That's 7 percent smaller than last month's estimate and 23 percent smaller than last year's crop.

The soybean yield is forecast at 40 bushels per acre. That would be the lowest yield since 2002.

Sugar beet production is forecast at 1.52 million tons. That's 18 percent higher than 2011.
