An early morning fire at a garbage collection warehouse in western Nebraska is estimated to have caused $120,000 in damage.
The fire hit Saturday morning at the Waste Connection transfer station in Gering.
Gering Fire Captain Jeff Vance says the fire was confined mostly to the inside of the building and caused heavy damage to the west side of the warehouse, as well as smoke damage to the offices. A loader and track hoe inside were also destroyed.
Vance says it appears a hot load of garbage received Friday afternoon had combusted.
