A Chadron couple faces charges after authorities say their four children were living in filth and had medical issues.
Chadron police chief Tim Lordino said that officers found piles of dirty clothes and shoes, soiled diapers and linens, and a non-working toilet when they went to check on John and Susan O'Donnell. He says the children -- a 1-year-old girl and boys ages 2, 10 and 14 -- had cuts on their feet and head lice, and the youngest two had diaper rash.
The children were placed last Monday in state care.
The O'Donnells face felony charges of child abuse. They're due in Dawes County Court on July 13.
Online court records available Sunday didn't reflect the case or list the O'Donnells' attorney. No number was listed for them.
