Say goodbye to incandescent light-bulbs.
New Federal laws are phasing them out and replacing them with compact fluorescent and LED bulbs.
The new bulbs are more energy efficient and last longer, but cost more initially. In October 2012, the traditional one hundred watt bulbs will be the first to disappear from store shelves. While some see the change as earth-friendly, others view it in a different light, and are buying old bulbs while they can.
Joe Leonard, an employee at the Home Depot said, "There were a lot of people coming in buying, buying the pack afraid that they would come off the shelves by the end of the year. Mostly the 60's and the 100 watts. Whatever the biggest pack they could get is, I mean, 16 packs, 12 packs."
The Home Depot will host how-to workshops about the new bulbs at 10 a.m. every Saturday in January.
