The four finalists for Hastings new police chief have been selected, but the process isn't over.
Now the candidates await interviews that will begin October 8th in Hastings. City Administrator Joe Patterson says there are a lot of people involved in the decision-making process.
"They will be interviewed by a committee of individuals that represent a cross-section of the community. Ultimately, I'll make a recommendation to Mayor Powers and he may or may not agree with that. Then he will make a recommendation to the council for ratification," said Patterson.
Patterson says they hope to announce their choice by mid-November. He says the transition period will be dependent on where the candidate is coming from.
