A Lincoln Police Officer is punched in the nose while arresting a shoplifter.

According to Captain Jim Davidsaver, at 8:03 p.m. officers were dispached to the Wal-Mart store near 27th and Superior Streets for a shoplifter.

Davidsaver said while coming into the area, officer Charity Hamm spotted a man matching the description of the suspect and contacted him near Jimmy John's.

Officer Hamm determined the man, 22-year-old Jason Falkenhagen of Lincoln, to be the suspect in the shoplifting case where trading cards were stolen. When Hamm started to arrest Falkenhagen, he resisted, punching Hamm in the face.

Hamm held Falkenhagen until other officers arrived to place him in custody.

Hamm was taken to Bryan West as a precaution, for injuries to her nose. She is expected to be fine.

Falkenhagen was arrested for shoplifting and assaulting an officer.
