A 53-year-old Omaha woman is charged with neglecting her 80-year-old mother after paramedics found the elderly woman in a filthy home with no heat and covered in bedsores and feces.

Roslyn Leitz is charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult in the case. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison.

Prosecutors say Ruth Leitz had a body temperature of 86 degrees when paramedics arrived at the home two weeks ago. Her kidneys were shutting down, and she had been sitting in the same recliner for weeks.

Roslyn Leitz told authorities her mother was stubborn and wouldn't go to the doctor.

Prosecutors say the condition of the house showed that Roslyn Leitz wasn't providing good care.
