A 56-year-old Omaha woman has been given one to two years in prison for stealing from a church in Blair.

Online court records say Mary Aten made a deal with Washington County prosecutors and pleaded no contest to a reduced felony charge of theft and to a reduced misdemeanor charge of attempting to evade income tax.

Prosecutors dropped three other tax-related charges in return for her pleas.

At her sentencing on Tuesday, Aten was ordered to repay First Christian Church $12,000.

Authorities say she'd stolen from the church while she worked there as office manager between July 2009 and February 2012.
