Most Omaha metro schools are reopening Friday, a day after the season's first major snow storm forced eastern Nebraska schools to cancel classes on Thursday.

Omaha, Millard, Elkhorn and other Omaha metro schools announced that classes in their schools are back on Friday. Lincoln Public Schools also is reopening Friday.

But slick roads and power outages led some schools outside the metro areas to remain closed Friday. They include Arlington, Bennington, Blair, Elmwood-Murdock and Gretna schools.

The blizzard that swept into Nebraska on Wednesday dropped more than nine inches of snow in some areas around Omaha.
