Omaha Man Sent to Prison in Counterfeiting Case

An Omaha man is going to federal prison in a counterfeiting case that was solved after fake bills showed up at Bryan High School in Bellevue.

The U.S. attorney's office says 23-year-old Emmanuel Macheik was
sentenced Thursday in 10 months in prison or ordered to pay nearly
$1,200 in restitution.

Macheik was arrested in January 2011 after authorities investigated a juvenile who used counterfeit bills at Bryan High.

Authorities say Macheik printed the money on his computer in his
bedroom.

A search turned up grocery bags containing $3,800 in bills, as well as a printer and supplies and two weapons.

Officials say nearly $1,200 in counterfeit bills was used at more than two dozen locations.
