A high-speed pursuit through three counties ended in the arrest of the driver three miles west of Bennet Thursday morning.
The Auburn Police Department says 22-year-old Kirby Clifton, Jr. of Lansing, Kansas, fled from police after an Auburn police officer attempted to stop him shortly after 4:00 a.m. for speeding and unlawful display of fictitious license plates.
Auburn Police say Clifton drove at speeds in excess of 105mph through Auburn, northbound along US Highway 75, and then westbound on Highway 2, where the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol picked up the pursuit. According to Auburn Police, Clifton continued to drive in a willful reckless manner even after the State Patrol successful deflated his tires, driving on the car’s rims until it finally stopped near 120th and Highway 2. The suspect is in the Lancaster County Jail awaiting potential felony charges.
