Authorities say nearly 60 pounds of marijuana has been seized after two recent traffic stops on Interstate 80 in Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says a trooper stopped a speeding car just before 11:30 p.m. Friday in Lincoln County. The trooper reported smelling the odor of marijuana, so the car was searched. The patrol says 25.5 pounds was found, divided among 15 Christmas-wrapped packages in the trunk.

The driver and his passenger were arrested on suspicion of possession for sale.

Late Saturday afternoon a trooper stopped a speeding car in Lincoln. A patrol dog taken to the scene near the airport indicated the presence of drugs. The patrol says 33 pounds of pot was found in the car trunk.

The driver was jailed on suspicion of possession for sale.
