The cold weather did not impede Powerball players. They made it out to play for a jackpot that, in just hours started at 310 million, and jumped to 325 million.
"Any time the jackpot gets high lie this, sales definitely increase," said Nate Clouse of "The Still" in Lincoln.
Powerball sales are up state-wide in Nebraska, as they are here at the Still in Lincoln, but not as much as they would be in previous three hundred plus million dollar jackpots. Part of the reason is a Powerball ticked has jumped from one dollar to two dollars. That's the bad news. The good news is the payouts have gone up. For instance, getting all five white balls correct used to pay out one-hundred thousand dollars. Now it's a million.
"And not only the white balls, but all the other prizes in the lower end of the game have also gone up," Said Bill Denkinger, Manager of the The Still.
300-plus million dollar jackpots are expected to be the norm with the new changes. The other normal reaction, is a constant, people continue to dream of what they would do with a huge jackpot win.
"Play music, don't have to be a poor musician," said Heath White of Lincoln.
"Make sure you and your friends and family don't have to work anymore," Added Clouse.
"Pay off the house, the car, put money back in the retirement fund that went away," said one anonymous senior.
Oh to dream. Win or lose, they will always be there.
