Eight positions at the Scotts Bluff County jail are being eliminated as part of budget cuts for the coming year.
Most of the county departments face cutbacks, but the jail and two other departments will be hit hard. The jail will see an 11 percent cut, the Roads Department will have a 12 percent cut and the Sheriff's Office will have to handle a 6 percent reduction.
County Board chairman Mark Masterton has said county workers likely would not receive any cost-of-living salary increases.
