Several hundred packages never made it to their Nebraska destinations because of the actions of a deliveryman.
Postal inspectors learned of the problem after several people in Papillion reported a delivery driver dumping packages on the street on Nov. 27.
The man was a private contractor working for FedEx.
Postal inspector Dave Margritz says only 31 of the 435 packages on the truck were intact and delivered. Ninety of the packages were empty and 314 unaccounted for.
The truck driver was fired.
The packages were being taken from the Kansas City FedEx terminal to Papillion's post office. Margritz says anyone looking for a package ordered around Thanksgiving that's listed as "in transit" in Papillion should check to see if the package was lost.
