A 22-year-old South Dakota man has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges stemming from a chase through south-central Nebraska.
Aleksandr Voznyuk, of Sioux Falls, S.D., made his plea Wednesday.
Voznyuk is charged with attempted murder of a Nebraska state trooper, two counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm, and other crimes.
Authorities say Voznyuk's companion in the Jan. 27 incident, 19-year-old Petr Strizheus, of Harrisburg, S.D., also was arraigned on Wednesday. He has asked the court to dismiss the case because of insufficient evidence.
The two are accused of leading the trooper on a chase that began on Interstate 80 east of the Odessa exit.
The trooper says several shots were fired at his cruiser, but he wasn't hit.
