Squatters Arrested After Small Explosion in G.I.

Updated: Mon 8:07 PM, Nov 05, 2012

Two homeless people have been arrested after a small explosion at a vacant home in Grand Island.

It all took place on Saturday at 211 North Eddy Street.

Witnesses in that area tell police they heard the explosion and saw windows break out of the home.

Police arrested Cody Fackler and Amy Billington, both 28 years old for burglary.

"I don't think their intent was to break in and really steal anything, but because they broke in and caused damage that resulted in the charge of burglary for both individuals," said Captain Robert Falldorf with the Grand Island Police Department.

The squatters tell police they lived in the home for about two months.
