OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Political science students from the University of Nebraska Omaha are teaming up with students of all ages for a service learning project that focuses on citizenship.
Nearly 150 students from an elementary school, a middle school and two high schools will gather Thursday to visit designated districts in the metro area.
Omaha Councilman Gary Gernandt will meet with them first to talk about citizen engagement.
Students will then split into groups to canvass and look for issues. They'll then receive guidance on how to write letters to the City Council about addressing those issues.
The project is part of UNO's P-16 Initiative, a collaborative program.
