A former treasurer of the Fremont Tiger Booster Club has been given jail time and probation for stealing nearly $5,600 from the organization.
A Dodge County judge on Tuesday sentenced Shelly Walters to 18 months of probation for theft by unlawful taking, which was reduced to a misdemeanor as part of a plea deal.
Before her probation, she must serve 27 days in jail and another seven days in jail after a year of probation.
Walters was arrested last October.
According to court documents, Walters stole the money over an eight-month period 2010.
She created false treasurer reports and used the money to pay off her bills.
