NFL Great Junior Seau was found dead at his San Diego area home on Wednesday. Police are calling Seau's death a suicide. The apparent cause of death was a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the chest.

Seau's suicide took place during National Mental Health Awareness Month and health care providers hope this situation draws attention to the devastating consequences that can come from untreated depression.

Kathy Havlicek has been in the medical field for three decades. Havlicek says it's important to notice the symptoms of depression in others because many sufferers are not always forthcoming about their struggles.
