School's out, what do you do with the kids?
You've heard about fitness boot camps for adults --boasting power-packed workouts that shed pounds and replace them with muscle in the matter of weeks.
So what about boot camp for kids. Would you enlist your kids?
Goodlife Fitness in Lincoln started Jungle Boot Camp about 3 years ago.
Kids learn the importance of staying fit and healthy while also learning important skills.
The class teaches proper exercise form including cardiovascular drills, body weight resistance, plyometrics, hand-eye coordination, agility movements, and much more.
This class helps build strong friendships, self-esteem, and solid foundation for a healthy lifestyle.
"Our goal with this as well is we are really one main goal that we have is we teach individuals to focus on one meal one workout one day at a time. We really feel that if we can start with children at a young age and teach them healthy habits, that they will hopefully carry these habits throughout their lives," said Steve Auxier, Owner and Operator of Goodlife Fitness and N10-sive Boot Camps.
Kids any age can join. The youngest participant is 4 years old. The oldest kid in the class is 11.
Two instructors teach the class.
The class is currently offered Saturday mornings at 10:45- 11:45 a.m.
Auxier says they are adding classes on Monday and Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
Auxier says it is becoming more an more important these days to get your child involved in some sort of activity as p-e classes and recess time get cut.
