Police say a man suspected of killing two Northern California women has been fatally shot by officers after a foot chase.

Shawna Pavey, a Yuba City police spokeswoman, said police responded Tuesday afternoon to multiple reports of gunshots at a Yuba City home.

Pavey said the arriving officers saw a gun-wielding suspect run from a home near the scene, and chased him before firing the fatal shots.

Police didn't identify the slain suspect or the two women found killed inside the home. Another woman inside the home was found injured but alive, and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police don't believe the shooting to be gang-related. Yuba City is about 40 miles north of Sacramento.
