UConn Campus 'Under Control' after Gun Threat

State police say the University of Connecticut's Avery Point Campus is "under control" after the report of an armed man on campus triggered an evacuation late Monday.

A UConn spokeswoman says a despondent man threatened to harm himself and had crawled beneath a dock.

A local TV station reports that police negotiators talked with him and the standoff ended. There's no word on the man's condition.

Following the report of a gunman on campus, an emergency alert was posted on the school's website ordering an evacuation.

It's not known if the man has any connection to the university.
