A preliminary hearing for a Wisconsin couple accused of torturing and starving the man's daughter will likely involve prosecutors playing a video of the emaciated girl.
The 40-year-old father and 42-year-old stepmother are due in a Dane County court Tuesday.
The Associated Press isn't naming them to avoid identifying the girl.
The video apparently shows the 15-year-old Madison girl telling police her parents confined her in the basement and withheld food until she wasted away to 70 pounds.
Videotaped testimony by a child can be admissible in court under limited circumstances.
However, Stephen Meyer, a defense lawyer not involved in this case, says the girl will most likely have to take the stand at trial.
He says the right to face one's accuser is a "guarded principle" in American justice.
