Conservative group American Crossroads has spent nearly $300,000 for a new statewide television ad attacking Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Bob Kerrey.
It's the group's largest ad buy since Kerrey announced he would seek the Senate seat being vacated by U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson, the state's lone congressional Democrat.
The ad dubs Kerrey as "liberal," and says he supports President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
It also says he opposed a federal balanced budget amendment while he was Nebraska's U.S. Senator in the 1990s.
American Crossroads, a group associated with former President George W. Bush political adviser Karl Rove, spent $278,000 to air the ad for two weeks on cable and broadcast networks.
