Douglas County Democrats are calling on the resignation or removal of embattled county Election Commissioner Dave Phipps, but he says he plans to stay on the job.
The Douglas County Democratic Party passed a resolution during its local convention earlier this month calling for Phipps' removal.
Phipps came under fire earlier this year for quietly closing about a third of the county's polling places in an effort to save money and for knowingly mailing voter information cards to nearly 2,000 north Omaha voters with the wrong polling place information on them.
In response to the resolution, Phipps says he plans to finish out his appointed term, which expires at the end of 2015.
