Republican U.S. Senate candidate Don Stenberg has launched his campaign's first television ad.
Titled "Workhorse," the minute-long ad paints Stenberg, currently Nebraska's state treasurer and a former state attorney general, as a hardworking Nebraskan who earned money as a kid by mowing lawns and detasseling corn.
The ad also says Stenberg has cut the state treasurer's budget by 13 percent and ran the attorney general's office on the third-smallest budget in the country.
The spot began airing Wednesday in cable television markets statewide.
While it's the first ad put out by Stenberg's campaign, the state treasurer has benefited from political ads run by outside groups, like the conservative anti-tax group Club for Growth, which is running ads attacking the spending record of Stenberg's chief rival and GOP front runner Jon Bruning.
