The leading GOP candidates seeking the seat held by retiring Democratic U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson include Nebraska Attorney General
Jon Bruning, state Treasurer Don Stenberg and state Sen. Deb Fischer.
The winner will likely face Democrat Bob Kerrey in November.
The GOP candidates have hammered their conservative credentials. Fischer received endorsements from 2008 vice presidential candidate and tea party favorite Sarah Palin, as well as Nebraska Rep. Jeff Fortenberry.
Stenberg claims endorsements from tea party leaders Sens. Jim DeMint of South Carolina and Rand Paul of Kentucky. Bruning was
endorsed by the national Tea Party Express and former presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum.
