Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund announced endorsed Nebraska’s Don Stenberg for U.S. Senate.
“In a time when politicians in Washington have abused and grossly exceeded their constitutional limits, voters are looking for fighters who are not afraid to rein in the federal government and place it back under the constraints of the U.S. Constitution,” sag GOA Vice Chairman Tim Macy.
Nebraska’s former Attorney General Don Stenberg is a strong proponent of the right to keep and bear arms and he has been a leading critic of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s role in Fast & Furious, where the U.S. government helped gun runners smuggle guns south of the border -- a program which has led to hundreds of deaths, including two U.S. federal agents.
Stenberg is running against Jon Bruning -- the current attorney general who, despite all that has happened with Fast & Furious, still admits he would have supported Eric Holder.
“When asked by an Omaha radio station why he supported Eric Holder, Bruning said that Holder had the votes anyway and he wanted to appear reasonable,” Mr. Stenberg said. “In other words, Bruning supported Eric Holder because Bruning wanted to go along to get along. That is not what we need in the United States Senate today.
“If someone like Eric Holder is nominated to the United States Supreme Court, I will vote no even if the vote is 99 to 1 and I am the one,” Stenberg said.
“When voting for judicial nominees, I will carefully consider their past rulings involving gun ownership, together with their honesty, integrity and commitment to the original intent of the Constitution.
We need senators who will do the right thing, not go along to get along. That is what I will do as Nebraska's next United States Senator.”
“Gun Owners of America is a proud supporter of Don Stenberg for Senate, and encourages all Nebraska gun owners and sportsmen to vote for Don Stenberg in the May 15 Republican primary,” said Mr. Macy.
