University of Iowa officials are preparing for a possible campus visit by President Barack Obama.

David Visin is associate director of the UI Department of Public Safety. He told the Iowa City Press-Citizen that local law enforcement officials are scheduled to meet with the Secret Service on Thursday afternoon to discuss details of the president's visit to the area.

Wednesday is the likely day, but the day of his visit and his itinerary
could change after security and other details are hammered out.

First lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to be in Des Moines on Tuesday for a campaign fundraiser and also in Omaha, Neb., 130 miles west, to address a charity luncheon for Girls Inc.

The president last visited the University of Iowa in March 2010.
