Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Bob Kerrey has raised more than $900,000 for his campaign since jumping into the race in late February, far out-raising his GOP opponents for the first three months of 2012.
But GOP contender Jon Bruning's war chest is nearly triple that
of Kerrey's, with the Republican front-runner boasting $1.4 million
cash on hand. That compares with Kerrey's $556,000 cash on hand.
Bruning, the state's attorney general, raised $530,000 in the
quarter that ended March 31. That's well ahead fellow Republican
contender and State Treasurer Don Stenberg, who raised nearly
$244,000 for the quarter and had $269,000 cash on hand.
Two other Republican candidates, state Sen. Deb Fischer and
Schuyler investment adviser Pat Flynn, had not released their first
quarter fundraising totals by midday Friday.
