Congressman Adrian Smith released the following statement after securing the Republican nomination for Nebraska’s Third Congressional District.
“I am humbled by the trust placed in me by the people of the Third District,” said Smith, who has been endorsed for re-election by Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman. “I would like to congratulate Bob Lingenfelter for his efforts, and I commend him for putting his name forward to run for public office.
“Our nation is at a crossroads,” added Smith. “While commonsense, conservative policies here in Nebraska have insulated us from the nation’s fiscal and economic woes, failure to get spending under control in Washington will have dire consequences for every American. The principles which keep Nebraska a great place to live and raise a family would go a long way to solving the serious challenges our country faces. Every day I have the opportunity to serve, I will continue to advocate for a federal government which does not spend more than it takes in, keeps taxes low, and does not burden job creators with unnecessary red tape.”
In addition to Gov. Heineman, Smith has been endorsed by Nebraska Right to Life, the National Rifle Association, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
