Voter Complaint Over Hearing Moves Forward

Friday afternoon the first hearing on Nebraska's first challenge to the 'Help America Vote Act' was held at the State Capitol.

A visually-impaired woman said she she was told she couldn't vote early at the Lancaster County Election Office that's because machines, meant for visually and hearing impaired voters weren't ready yet.

She spoke at a public hearing, about the violation to the "Help America Vote Act."

"If October first comes then i have a right to vote like anybody else," said Fatima Floyd.

The Election Commissioner blamed tight time constraints set by the state and the amount of time it takes to program the machines.

He stressed the county's mission to allow voting rights to all eligible Nebraskans.
