Opposing fans at Nebraska's volleyball match last Thursday were too close, according to NU head coach John Cook. The fans, who were members of Oklahoma's women's basketball team, were seen on the floor inches away from Nebraska players on the service line. The OU fans taunted the Huskers throughout the match.
"It bordered on the line of harassment," Cook said. Cook said the fans originally had thunder sticks, but he had the sticks removed.
Cook also said the referees that officiated the match have since been removed from the Big 12.
The Big 12 Conference said it is reviewing actions by Oklahoma volleyball fans, including members of the women's basketball team. Big 12 spokesman Burda said the league would review the complaint before determining what, if any, action would be taken against OU.
The Huskers beat the Sooners in five sets before a crowd of 2,046, the second-largest in OU volleyball history.

Complaining to the Big 12 will do nothing, as evidenced by them doing nothing when that thug Andrea Riley clocked a Texas player in the Big 12 Tournament last year!!
Come on Husker fans don't let OU get away with this. Call, write, e-mail the Big 12 and let them know this is unacceptable. Call Michael Moore...he will help! We have articles written about how our fans treat other teams...guessing OU hasn't read those.
This is to Scott: HUH???? Why is the story not true, and why is there no such thing as volleyball fans?
Had Coach Cook told the girls to ignore the fans I'm sure they would have settled down. By showing their discomfort and demanding the removal of the noise sticks, the crowd's behavior was only encouraged. The Sooner women's team was there showing support for the volleyball coach, whose little boy recently died of cancer. I believe the entire evening was a fund raising event in his honor. Honestly what does it take for people to realize that ignoring people is more effective than whining about them.
This story is not true. There is no such thing as volleyball fans.

The way that Oklahoma responded to this......JOKE!! If the Big 12 offices feel that they should just turn a cheek, and hope it just goes away......Thats sad!!! Make a stand Big 12!!!
This is sickening behavior, especially from the OU women's basketball team members doing that. Would this be tolerated in any other athletic setting? How could the Big 12 officials on hand even begin to let this happen? So far the fans/athletes have gotten away with this so what next will they try? Hurting an athlete? Pull a Tonya Harding on someone? So far OU and the Big 12's response is to keep their head buried in the sand and we're coming up on a week after this incident. Even a bunch of bleeping hillbillies don't act this disrespectful and dangerous. Maybe more of us need to be calling the Big 12 office and ask them what they intend to do about it. If they tell us to stop calling I guess we can say to them "oh it doesn't feel good to be harrassed like the fans do it?" Big 12 officials and OU athletics.....pathetic!
Why would This surprise anyone? OU....nuff said.
And Oklahoma still lost the game, hahahahah.
OU is a dirty athletics program with a trashy fan base. This is disturbing, but, sadly, it isn't surprising.
The video clip is pretty disturbing. The NCAA really needs to address this for the safety of the athletes.
What Oklahoma student athletes did shows a lack of class by them and Oklahoma University. Way to go coach Cook.
I am so glad this is being addressed! I've emailed OU and received an unapologetic, insincere email in return. I know writers from LJS and the OWH have picked up on this behavior, too! Way to go, Coach Cook!
