Cody Green's mentality going into his first start against Baylor was simple - don't act like a freshman.

"When im on the field, I'm the general," Green said. "Thats what the coaches have established, so when I'm out there, I need to take control."

Green completed 12 of 21 passes for 138 yards and an interception against Baylor. He also rushed eight times for 43 yards.

Green continued to stress to the media on Tuesday that Zac Lee, who Green replaced as the starter, has been instrumental in his success on the field.

"I told him 'I'm going to need you more than ever'," Green told Lee. "He's helped me out just like any other game I've been in, so things haven't changed at all."

Head Coach Bo Pelini has said that there will be open competition once again for the starting quarterback job against No. 20 Oklahoma on Saturday.
