Nebraska’s Kelsey Griffin led the Huskers with 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Huskers remained unbeaten, defeating Texas A&M 71-60 before a crowd of 10,889 fans Saturday at the Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln.
Nebraska opened the game on a 9-2 run, before the Aggies put a run together of their own to cut the Husker lead to just nine points at the first media timeout of the game. The Huskers led 40-29 at halftime and then started the second half on a cold streak.
The Huskers took 22 three-point field goal attempts, only converting on five of them. The Huskers out rebounded the Aggies 37-33 in a game that really was close until the last two minutes of the game when the Huskers sealed the win.
Nebraska’s Big Four of Kelsey Griffin, Dominique Kelley, Yvonne Turner and Cory Montgomery combined for 61 of the Huskers 71 points.
One big factor in Saturday’s outcome over #10 Texas A&M was the chances at the free-throw line. Nebraska made 16 of 21 shots at the line, while the Aggies only made 1 of 2 the entire game.
Danielle Adams led Texas A&M with a team-high 18 points, while Tyra White added 15 in the loss.
The Huskers (21-0 overall, 8-0 Big 12 Conference) hit the road for a pair of league stops at Lawrence to face the Kansas Jayhawks on Wednesday, and then to Columbia to face Missouri next Saturday, before returning to the Devaney Center to face Iowa State one week from Wednesday night. Tip-off between the Huskers and Cyclones is set for 7:05 p.m.
