Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital is part of the Century Project, a 30 million dollar, 40 month project that got underway in June of 2008 to make improvements.

Dave Patterson the director of engineering at Mary Lanning said exciting improvements are well underway.

"We're going to expand the patient tower to the north and then also to the south our outpatient surgery center," said Patterson

And it's not only about adding on, they are also renovating each of the existing floors.

"One of the big features is we're going to go to all private rooms instead of semi-private that we have now, Patterson said. "And outpatient surgery will be expanded with new services and a bronchostopy suite."

In addition to that, Patterson said there are a great deal of infrastructure improvements going on as well. From fire sprinklers to water systems to air handling, the nearly half century old building will get a complete face lift.

W. Michael Kearney President and CEO of Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital for just over 20 years is retiring the first week in September, but has been instrumental in getting the Century Project off the ground.

"Obviously I have a lot of pride because it all started during my tenure here at the organization so I feel a very vested interest in the success of this project because this is setting the hospital on the right road for the next 20 to 30 years," Kearney

As Kearney retires in September, Brad Neet comes from Stevens Point, Wisconsin to become the new President and CEO at Mary Lanning. And he's already excited about the Century Project.

"It's great for the community because we're bringing jobs into the community, said Neet. "We're increasing the economic development of the community and then ultimately it's great for our patients. This project is going to allow us to continue on Mary Lanning. Which has provided for this community in terms of care and service for over the past 90 years."

"This hospital will be as nice or nicer than any other hospital in the state when we're done," said Neet.
