Democrat Anne Boyle says she decided to run for lieutenant governor after she heard about a letter that Gov. Dave Heineman sent to state education groups, urging them to support a repeal of federal health care reform.

On Monday morning, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Meister announced Boyle as his running mate. Meister will face the incumbent Heineman this fall.

In the letter, Heineman said the teachers groups should support the repeal of federal health care reform or he'll assume they tacitly support a likely reduction in education funding.

Boyle described the letters as blackmail.

Boyle was chairwoman of the state Democratic Party from 1998 to 2001 and is a four-time delegate to the Democratic National Convention.

We already pay the high cost of the uninsured in other ways! Or maybe hospitals don't shift the costs of caring for the uninsured on to the insured. Or maybe we don't pay government aid to people who have been injured and cannot work. Yep, the system we have is working just great. And what is the comment about immigration? Umm.. Did I miss something? Pathetic is not being able to stay on topic.

I think that the federal health care shloud be repealed. The cost is too hi for what we get. If you like new taxes then keep the health care.

Pathetic comment. Just remember Heineman is the one labeling Coach Tom Osborne as soft on immigration. Because the law Heineman has now enforced allowing illegal alien's children in-state tuition. Liberal you say...

Anne Boyle is my hero for recognizing that Nebraskans should be able to have both education and health care. I hope that our low unemployment numbers are not due to the fact that Dave Heineman encourages fudged numbers. For example, small business owners like construction companies who don't insure their employees are not exactly representing a great employment scenario. What happens if someone gets hurt on or off the job or has a sick child. A construction worker that has a job that cant access medical services should not be counted in these unemployment numbers. If something goes wrong, these hurt employees probably use state funded programs when they are injured and cannot support their families. Wake up people, turn off FOX "news" and consider thinking for yourself. No one is going to take away your birthday if health insurance is made available to hard working people who work for people who are unwilling to insure their small business employees.

It's about time somebody called our blowhard Gov. on his underhanded campaign techniques. Heineman is an old-time backroom Pol, who would rather do things crooked than straight. What a hack! If this is the best the Republic Party can produce, it's time to step aside.

If this is a representation that she is FOR the Healthcare ripoff. then she better wake up because the majority of the United States is against it. Just another Democrat Liberal wanting to take more of our freedoms away from us and give them to those that haven't the ambition to produce anything with their hands out.
