First Deadline for 2010 Elections is Approaching

Potential candidates have until Friday, December 4, 2009, to change their political party affiliation if they intend to seek the nomination of a political party different from which they are currently registered.

Lancaster County Election Commissioner David Shively is reminding potential candidates that the first deadline for the 2010 election cycle is rapidly approaching. Potential candidates have until Friday, December 4, 2009, to change their political party affiliation if they intend to seek the nomination of a political party different from which they are currently registered.

If anyone is interested in changing political parties, they may do so in person at the Lancaster County Election Office, 601 North 46th Street, Lincoln. The election commissioner’s office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Individuals may also register to vote through the mail. Mail-in registration forms are available at most post offices, banks, and libraries. A voter registration form is also available on page 80 of the blue pages in the Windstream telephone book. Citizens may also download a voter registration form from the Election Commissioner’s web site and mail it to the election office.
