Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy



  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt or seasoned salt
  • 3 tbsp. margarine or butter
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms
  • Gravy


    1. Heat non-stick skillet over medium heat 2 or 3 minutes.

    2. Combine ground beef, salt and pepper. Mix well, shape into oval patties. Place patties in skillet and cook on both sides until brown. Place patties on plate and pour off drippings.

    3. Melt butter in skillet and add mushrooms. Cook and till about 2 minutes *
    Add gravy. Mix well, return patties to skillet, simmer uncovered over medium heat. Turn meat, stir gravy. Cook until desired doneness.

    * You can use a jar of gravy or can of beef gravy, a package of gravy mix
    or make your own with drippings.
