Thousands of students across the Capital City are a bit less stressed, after the end of the 2008-2009 school year, and many already have plans for the summer.
June has arrived, and that means students all across Lincoln are," Very excited about the last day of school," said Akilah Akbar, 8th grade, Culler Middle School.
"It's the best day of school. You have fun, and you hang out with the teachers the most," said Hadgi Kero, 7th grade, Culler Middle School.
"This year has gone by so fast," said Aaron Steinman, 6th grade, Culler Middle School.
Thursday was the last day of school for Lincoln Public Schools.
All across the Capital City, many students were excited for the day, while others wished it hadn't come so fast.
"I kind of don't want it to be the last day, because some teachers are moving to different schools, and I want it to be at least another four days or something like that," said Elisia Medina-Jordan, 6th grade, Culler Middle School.
Many Culler Middle School students entered the building for the last time, as they spend the summer preparing for high school.
"I'm going to do basketball at northeast. I'm going to play in their summer basketball league, and I'm going to do their basketball camp," said Akbar.
Others, say they will spend the summer traveling and hanging out with friends.
"I might go to Canada, then go to Buffalo, NY, and then come back through Michigan, and come back to Lincoln," said Kero.
"I'm going to Adventureland, and probably Colorado," said Steinman.
"We'll probably hang out this summer and go swimming a lot," said Medina-Jordan.
But, only for a few months, before they prepare themselves for that next step in their school career.
"I'm excited and nervous at the same time, because right now, I'm kind of on top of everything as an 8th grader, and I'm going to go to high school and be low on the food chain, but I'm also happy, because this is a new chapter in my life," said Akbar.
Culler Middle School just celebrated their 50th anniversary last month.
The school has nearly 450 students.
