It might be a summer exhibition, but it's still serious business for the players in Saturday's 8-man football all-star game.
"It means a lot," said Zach Olmstead of Overton. "We don't come down to lose obviously. We come down to win, and that's what we're going to do."
"I would like to say the East is probably going to whoop on the West," said Friend's Clayton Moore. "That's something we've been talking about a lot, but I expect a good game and I'm expecting a lot of athletes to make a lot of good plays."
Despite coming from small schools, both teams have big talent that is ready to shine on a state-wide stage.
"I think it's a great opportunity to display 8-man football," said West Head Coach Craig Schnitzler. "You might get one or two in the Shrine Bowl, and this is an opportunity to bring 48 of the best players together and have a great atmosphere."
Saturday's all-star game will be held at the Hastings College football complex. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
