Riley Zimmerman led Beatrice with 23 points as the Orangemen held off Norris to advance to the B-1 District Tournament final in a 58-56 overtime win. Dylan Bohlke led Norris with 17 points.
Norris was up by 1 heading to the final quarter and led by as many as four points in the 4th. Beatrice’s Devin Stewart hit a three-pointer giving Beatrice a two-point lead.
Norris found themselves after a pair of misses at the free throw line down by 2 with under a minute to go in regulation, Jakson Reetz tied the game on a layup. Beatrice then turned the ball over to Norris, Reetz had an opportunity to win the game in regulation, but missed, so the two teams went to overtime.
In overtime, Rylee Zimmerman scored the only field goal for the Orangemen, Norris was down for the most of the overtime period. After Beatrice misses, Norris had a chance to win the game in overtime. Under 12 seconds left to go in overtime, Jakson Reetz ties the game and AJ Flodman hits it for the win – and Beatrice is one step closer to the state tournament with a win over Norris.
