Olivia Boender played a big part in Waverly's three-game sweep (27-25, 25-20, 27-25) of Elkhorn South on Thursday morning in the State Volleyball Championships in Grand Island.
Boender recorded 22 kills, 3 service aces, 3 blocks and 23 digs to help the fifth-seed ViQueens get into the State Semifinals. She had 12 kills of her 22 kills in the first set.
Dani Root added nine kills and nine digs for Waverly.
Waverly (28-6) faces Grand Island Northwest Friday at 2 p.m. for a spot in the Class B state volleyball championship game on Saturday.
